We’re Kacie, Zach, and Sylvie Jo.
I’m Kacie, a fifth-generation farmer and rancher in Southwest Oklahoma.
Growing up, there were parts of conventional agriculture that never sat right with me. It’s not the fault of individual farmers, but the system as a whole prioritizes production and uniformity over long-term health. I didn’t have the language for it at the time, but I knew something felt off. Even when I tried to leave, I kept finding my way back to the farm.
Zach and I met while working remotely for nonprofits based in Uganda. He grew up in Uganda, later lived in Portland, and studied in Arkansas. I left Oklahoma for California, spent time traveling, and eventually landed in the Bay Area. After we got married in 2018, we moved back and began fixing up a house on my family’s farm.
A few months later, I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition, Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody disease. That diagnosis forced us to take a hard look at food. I started the Autoimmune Protocol diet, and we saw immediate changes. Clean, unaltered protein became essential, and we realized how difficult it was to actually find.
So we started raising our own.
What began as a way to meet our own needs quickly turned into something bigger. Friends and family started asking for the same thing, and over time, that grew into what we’re building today.
Whether you’re here because of your own health journey, because you want to support local agriculture, or because you simply want better food, we’re glad you’re here.
xoxo,
Kacie, Zach and Sylvie Jo
