We’re Kacie, Zach, and Sylvie Jo.
I (Kacie) am a 5th generation farmer and rancher here in Southwest Oklahoma. Growing up, there were things about the conventional ag that surrounded us that didn’t sit right with me. (It’s not the individual farmer’s fault), but our industrialized food system is more focused on mass production and monoculture, at the expense of the health of people and planet. I just didn’t have language for it at the time, but despite trying to get away from the farm, life would fine a way to bring me back home.
Zach and I connected while we were both working (remotely) for nonprofits based in Uganda. Zach grew up in Uganda before moving to Portland, and then went to college in Arkansas, with no experience farming or ranching pre-meeting me :). I grew up on the farm, then moved to California for college, traveled the globe for a year before landing in the Bay Area. After getting married in 2018, we decided to fix up a house on Kacie’s family farm, which is where it all started.
Two months after we got married, I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease (MOG Antibody). In a desperate attempt to heal, I started the Autoimmune Protocol diet, and we immediately noticed a difference in my health, and haven’t looked back since! Clean, basic, unaltered protein is of utmost importance on my diet, and unfortunately, we couldn’t find anything that met our standards locally.
So, we decided to raise what we needed ourselves, and were quickly met with more demand than we could supply! Whether you’re here because of a similar health story, because you like supporting local farmers, or you just really like high quality, nutrient-dense and tasty food, please know that it is our absolute pleasure to be able to share this all with you. Feel free to reach out if you ever have any questions!
