We place a lot of emphasis on choosing the right genetics for our farm. Not only does it have a direct impact on the quality and flavor that ends up on your plate, it also makes a difference on our pastures health!

Forage & Climate Adapted Cattle

We believe appropriately sized and ethically raised animals are capable of consistently producing a tender and flavorful eating experience without grain.

The typical modern commercial cow that weighs 1,300-1,500 lbs at mature weight requires more high energy feed (grain) than our native pasture alone is usually able to provide. Our ‘small’ 700-900 lb cows are able to maintain their condition on pasture without grain supplementation.

We think it’s vitally important to have the proper genetics in order to get a premium product that customers can rely on every time they buy from us. Does your current grass-fed and finished beef producer have the right genetics for the product they are selling? That’s a question we think more people should be asking.

If you have questions, want to come see our herd for yourself, or start your own Aberdeen herd using cattle we currently have for sale, drop us an email on the contact page and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible!

BERKSHIRE PIGS

While we do have a few ‘pet’ Kune-Kune’s, all of the pork we sell comes from Berkshire and Berkshire cross pigs. Berkshires have proven genetics, good marbling, and excellent flavor that we’ve been really pleased with. They are hardy pigs and have thrived in our pasture-based system. Living outside in their natural environment, eating grass & roots, and getting daily exercise (in combination with some excellent non-gmo, corn and soy-free feed) makes for some truly delicious pork!
